Rajasthan SI Paper Leak Case: Two More Arrested, Total Reaches 154
The Rajasthan Police's Special Operations Group (SOG) has arrested two more people in the 2021 Sub-Inspector (SI) recruitment examination paper leak case, taking the total number of arrests to 154, officials said on Thursday.
Additional Director General of Police (SOG) Vishal Bansal identified the accused as Devendra Kumar Saini (51), a Jaipur resident, and Dungar Prakash (33), from Balotra.
According to police, Saini allegedly arranged for his son, Ravindra Saini, to access leaked examination questions and answers through Rajkumar Yadav, another accused who has already been arrested. Ravindra cleared the written examination and was subsequently selected as a sub-inspector. He is currently absconding, officials said.
Saini also allegedly helped another candidate, Bharat Yadav, obtain the leaked questions, although the latter was not selected for the post.
Police said Saini had been absconding for a long time before surrendering before a Jaipur court. He was subsequently taken into custody. A reward of Rs 10,000 each had earlier been announced for information leading to the arrest of Saini and his son.
In a separate allegation, Prakash allegedly arranged for a dummy candidate, Kamlesh Kumar, to appear in the September 15, 2021, examination on behalf of his brother-in-law, Ashok Kumar, in exchange for Rs 10 lakh.
Ashok scored 180.94 marks in Hindi and 138.36 in general knowledge and was selected as a sub-inspector with a merit rank of 154, police said. He had been arrested earlier in connection with the case.
The two newly arrested accused have been remanded to police custody until October 17 for further questioning.
The case relates to alleged irregularities in the 2021 Rajasthan SI recruitment examination, which has been under investigation over allegations of leaked question papers and the use of dummy candidates.
Officials said further investigation is underway to establish the roles of those involved in the alleged examination malpractice.
