Rajasthan CM Sharma Transfers ₹1,000 to Anganwadi Workers for Uniforms

Bhajanlal Sharma on Monday emphasised that women’s empowerment is key to development , outlining a series of initiatives aimed at strengthening their socio-economic status.

At an event held at the chief minister’s residence, Sharma transferred ₹1,000 each to the bank accounts of around 1.22 lakh Anganwadi workers to support the purchase of uniforms. He also distributed cheques to beneficiaries under schemes such as the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, Lado Protsahan Yojana, and Kalibai Bheel Yojana, according to an official statement.

Highlighting their contribution, Sharma said Anganwadi workers play a crucial role in early childhood care and development , helping build a strong foundation for future generations and contributing significantly to nation-building.

The chief minister noted that the state government has taken several steps over the past two years to strengthen Anganwadi centres. As part of these efforts, a 10 per cent hike in honorarium has been approved for Anganwadi workers, helpers, mid-day meal cooks, and other honorarium-based staff, effective from April 1.

Focusing on financial empowerment, Sharma said over 16 lakh women have become ‘lakhpatis’ under the Lakhpati Didi scheme, with the loan limit enhanced from ₹1 lakh to ₹1.5 lakh.

He added that women associated with animal husbandry have benefited from a ₹5 per litre milk subsidy , along with support from schemes such as the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana and Maa Voucher Yojana.

Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari underscored the vital role of Anganwadi workers in shaping children’s development and credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for giving momentum to women’s empowerment in the country.

During the event, Sharma also released a calendar of activities for Anganwadi centres to be conducted throughout the year.
