Rajasthan CM orders probe into corruption allegations against three MLAs

Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma on Sunday ordered a high-level investigation into corruption allegations against three MLAs , emphasizing the state government’s “zero tolerance” stance on public sector corruption .

The directive follows a sting operation-based report published in a national daily, which alleged that BJP MLA Revantram Danga , Congress MLA Anita Jatav , and independent MLA Ritu Banawat accepted commissions in exchange for facilitating development work in their respective constituencies.

CM Sharma, in a post on X, called the issue “extremely serious and concerning” and stated that “no matter how influential a person may be, if found guilty of corruption, they will not be spared.” He ordered the Chief Secretary and the Director General of Police to investigate the matter through a committee chaired by the State Chief Vigilance Commissioner (Additional Chief Secretary, Home). In addition, the MLA Local Area Development (LAD) accounts of the three assembly constituencies have been frozen as part of preventive measures.

State Minister Jhabar Singh Kharra also weighed in, calling for a probe by the Assembly’s Ethics Committee . Describing the allegations as “unfortunate for Indian democracy,” he urged political parties to take responsibility for ensuring accountability . “If anyone is found guilty, it should be conveyed to the Vidhan Sabha Chairperson , who will present the matter before the Assembly and take appropriate action,” he said.

This development comes amid growing scrutiny of elected representatives’ use of MLA LAD funds , highlighting concerns over transparency and governance in state-level politics.
