Rahul, Stubbs Set It Up, Miller Seals It for DC in Nail-Biting Finish
Delhi Capitals pulled off a tense chase to defeat Royal Challengers Bengaluru by six wickets , with David Miller sealing the game through two towering sixes in the final over.
Chasing 176 on a slow Chinnaswamy pitch , DC were jolted early, slipping to 18 for three . However, KL Rahul steadied the innings with a composed 57 (34 balls) , blending timing and control. His knock, though slightly un-T20 in approach , proved crucial in rebuilding the chase. Rahul, who struck two sixes and three fours , added a vital 69-run stand with Tristan Stubbs before falling to Krunal Pandya .
Stubbs then took charge, crafting a fluent 60 not out (47 balls) , holding one end firmly. Alongside Axar Patel (24 retired hurt) , he added 47 runs, keeping DC in contention despite the mounting pressure. At 134 for four in 15.5 overs , the equation stood at 45 off 25 balls .
The finish, however, belonged to Miller. Facing criticism after a recent failure, he responded emphatically, smashing Romario Shepherd for two sixes in the final over to guide DC home with a ball to spare, ending their two-match losing streak .
Earlier, Bhuvneshwar Kumar (3/26) gave RCB a dream start, removing three top-order batters with classic swing bowling.
Batting first, RCB posted 175 for eight , largely built around Phil Salt’s 63 . Salt and Virat Kohli (19) added 52 runs for the opening wicket, with RCB reaching 59 for one in the powerplay . Salt later stitched a 47-run stand with Devdutt Padikkal , but DC struck back in the middle overs.
Axar Patel (2/18) and Kuldeep Yadav (2/32) applied the brakes, removing key batters including Salt. Brief resistance from Rajat Patidar and Tim David was cut short, preventing RCB from accelerating.
Despite a solid 99 for two in 10 overs , RCB managed only 76 runs in the last 10 overs , finishing with a below-par total — a shortfall that ultimately proved decisive.
