The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has strongly condemned the remarks made by Rahul Gandhi , Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, on inflation. BJP leader Prakash Reddy on Sunday criticised Gandhi, stating that his comments were immature, uninformed, and provocative , capable of misleading the public.

Responding to Gandhi’s remarks, Prakash Reddy told the media that the tweet issued by the Opposition leader was unfortunate . He questioned how Gandhi could claim that India is heading towards inflation without any scientific analysis , alleging that such statements are aimed solely at political gain . He further accused Gandhi of spreading false narratives to divert public attention from his failures and to set the agenda for the upcoming elections .

Reddy asserted that India’s economy remains strong and that people are aware of the ground realities. He cautioned that creating panic over inflation is irresponsible and unwarranted.

What did Rahul Gandhi allege?

Meanwhile, on Saturday, Rahul Gandhi expressed concerns over the country’s economic situation on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) . He pointed to the fall in the rupee against the dollar and the rise in industrial fuel prices as indicators of possible upcoming inflation.

He noted that increasing industrial fuel costs would lead to higher production and transportation expenses , ultimately impacting the common man. Gandhi warned that rising prices of essential goods would increase the financial burden on households and could also trigger capital outflows . He further stated that petrol, diesel, and LPG prices may rise after the elections .

Gandhi also criticised the Central government , alleging a lack of proper direction and accusing it of being confined to mere rhetoric rather than concrete action.
