Rahul Gandhi unveils 5 big guarantees for Kerala, takes aim at Modi and Vijayan

In a high-stakes finale to the Congress-led UDF’s ‘Puthuyuga Yatra’ , Rahul Gandhi unveiled five major electoral guarantees for poll-bound Kerala while launching a blistering attack on both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan .

Addressing a packed gathering, Gandhi claimed, “The same way Donald Trump is controlling Modi , the Prime Minister is controlling the Chief Minister of Kerala,” adding that even CPI(M) workers were aware of this influence.

Announcing his five guarantees, Gandhi promised free travel for women in KSRTC buses , Rs 1,000 monthly assistance for college-going girls , welfare pensions of Rs 3,000 per month , a health insurance scheme worth Rs 25 lakh per household in Oommen Chandy’s name , and interest-free loans up to Rs 5 lakh for young entrepreneurs . He also pledged a dedicated ministry for senior citizens .

Several of these pledges echo promises previously made in Telangana, reflecting continuity in Congress’s voter-focused approach. Like in Telangana, Kerala’s plan highlights women’s welfare, youth support, pensions, and healthcare . The change from six guarantees to five appears mainly for clarity and emphasis , making the promises easier for voters to remember and presenting them as focused, high-impact commitments without overlapping with existing schemes.

Gandhi also accused the CPI(M) government of prioritizing corporate interests over farmers, workers, and small businesses, calling it “the most corporatist government Kerala has ever seen ” and suggesting it be renamed the “ Corporate Party of India .” He referenced the Sabarimala gold theft , alleging obstruction in the investigation and promising strict action if the UDF comes to power.

Targeting the Centre, Gandhi criticized Modi’s trade deal with the US , claiming it would harm farmers, compromise energy security , and hand over India’s “most valuable asset, data”, at a time of rapid AI growth . He also stressed India’s potential to compete with China in strategic industrial technologies .

By combining voter-centric pledges with sharp critiques of both state and central leadership, Gandhi positioned the Congress as the alternative to what he called the “ CJP ”, the CPI(M) and BJP working together to defeat the UDF.
