Rahul Gandhi to Address ‘Chhatron Ki Goonj’ in Indore on September 12

Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to address the party’s ‘Chhatron Ki Goonj’ programme in Indore on September 12, with the party planning a major mobilisation of students for the event.

Indore city Congress committee president Chintu Chouksey said on Saturday that Gandhi would interact with students and youth during the programme and raise issues related to education. The Congress is preparing to bring around 50,000 students from Indore and adjoining areas to the proposed event.

The programme is part of the Congress’s nationwide ‘Chhatron Ki Goonj’ student outreach campaign, which aims to engage young people at educational centres across the country. Through the initiative, the opposition party has been seeking to highlight concerns surrounding the education sector and employment opportunities.

The Congress has been targeting the ruling BJP over issues including question paper leaks, rising education costs, irregularities in government recruitment and unemployment. The party has sought to position these concerns as key challenges facing students and young job seekers.

The Indore event is expected to provide Gandhi with a platform to directly engage with a large gathering of students and discuss issues affecting their education, career prospects and employment opportunities.

Chouksey said the party’s organisational machinery was working to mobilise students from Indore as well as neighbouring areas for the programme.

Gandhi had earlier addressed a ‘Chhatron Ki Goonj’ programme in Pune, Maharashtra, on August 22. The Congress has been expanding the campaign across educational centres as part of its efforts to strengthen its engagement with the student community.

The September 12 programme in Indore is likely to be another major outreach event as the Congress seeks to amplify its concerns over education, recruitment and unemployment among young voters.
