Racism Is a Crime Against Humanity: KTR

BRS Working President K. T. Rama Rao (KTR) strongly condemned all forms of caste-based arrogance, calling them completely opposed to humanity and the spirit of India’s Constitution. Speaking about the recent killing of MBA student Angel Chakma from Tripura in Dehradun, KTR said the incident shows how bias, abuse of power, and lack of punishment can lead to devastating consequences.

He emphasized that such crimes are not isolated events. When hatred becomes normalized and discrimination is tolerated, society faces serious risks. “India cannot stand on hatred. Our country thrives on unity in diversity,” KTR said, adding that justice cannot be compromised. He insisted that caste-based arrogance, whether overt or subtle, must be met with zero tolerance.

KTR urged the central government to take decisive action, both morally and constitutionally. He demanded strict and clear laws to classify caste-based speeches, behavior, or incitement as punishable crimes, with fast-track arrests, charges, and punishments. “Justice cannot be selective, and accountability cannot be optional,” he said.

Highlighting constitutional guarantees of equality and respect, KTR noted that protecting citizens from caste-based arrogance is not just a matter of public safety, but a test of India’s commitment to democracy, justice, and human rights. Allowing discrimination to persist weakens institutions and endangers lives, he warned.

To prevent repetition of such incidents, he urged the government to implement strong legal protections, effective enforcement, and institutional accountability. “Zero tolerance must be the standard, not an exception,” KTR stressed.

On December 9, 24-year-old MBA student Angel Chakma was attacked in Dehradun with knives and blunt weapons, dying later in hospital. The incident sparked outrage across political circles. Of the six accused, five have been arrested, including two minors who were sent to a juvenile reform center. The sixth accused, a Nepalese national, is still at large, with a reward of ₹25,000 announced for information leading to his arrest.
