Race Intensifies: 28,456 Nominations for Municipal Elections

The buzz around municipal elections in Telangana has reached a peak. The process of filing nominations for the upcoming municipal polls concluded on Friday. Across the state, nominations were received over three days for seven municipal corporations and 116 municipalities , with a total of 28,456 nominations filed.

The first day of nominations witnessed a muted response, while heavy rush was seen on the final day. Ahead of the deadline on January 30 , candidates filed nominations in large numbers. Notably, 19,180 nominations were submitted on the last day alone . Along with candidates from major political parties, a significant number of independents also entered the fray this time.

Candidates arrived in rallies with supporters and submitted their nomination papers till the last minute, leading to heavy crowds at the offices of returning officers.

With the nomination process completed, scrutiny of nomination papers will be taken up next. This will be followed by the withdrawal process, after which election officials will announce the final list of candidates. Political excitement is running high across the state over the municipal elections.
