
R. Madhavan unveils first look teaser of biopic ‘GDN’ based on India’s Edison G.D. Naidu
Actor R. Madhavan has unveiled the first look teaser of his upcoming biopic GDN , in which he will portray the legendary inventor Gopalaswami Doraiswamy Naidu, popularly known as the “Edison of India.”
G.D. Naidu, regarded as one of India’s earliest innovators, is credited with creating the country’s first indigenous electric motor in 1937. His inventions ranged from razors and kerosene fans to orange juice extractors and hybrid crops, showcasing his remarkable genius and pioneering spirit.
The teaser, released by Madhavan on his Instagram late Sunday, opens in a shadowy workshop where the actor is seen working with welding tools. As he lifts his mask, his transformation into an aged Naidu with bald head, glasses, and an intense gaze is revealed, giving viewers a glimpse into the biopic’s authentic portrayal.
Announcing the teaser, Madhavan captioned his post: “The spirit of G.D. Naidu is now officially revealed a story of unmatched vision, soaring ambition, and unshakable resolve. Proud to present the first look teaser of GDN.”
The film is directed by Krishnakumar Ramakumar and jointly produced by Varghese Moolan Pictures and Tricolor Films. Aravind Kamalanathan serves as the cinematographer and creative producer, while Muralidharan is the executive producer.
Meanwhile, Madhavan is also set to appear alongside Ajay Devgn and Rakul Preet Singh in De De Pyaar De 2 . The film, written by Luv Ranjan and directed by Anshul Sharma, features Ajay Devgn, R. Madhavan, and Meezaan Javed Jafri in pivotal roles. De De Pyaar De 2 is slated to hit theatres on November 14.
Recently, Madhavan starred opposite Fatima Sana Shaikh in Aap Jaisa Koi , where he played Shreerenu, a composed Sanskrit teacher, while Shaikh portrayed Madhu, an energetic French instructor. The film explored the charming dynamic between two contrasting personalities brought together by fate.
