Purandeswari Reviews Polavaram Works, Urges Faster Completion Before Monsoon

BJP Andhra Pradesh president and MP Daggubati Purandeswari on Sunday conducted a field inspection of the Polavaram Multipurpose Irrigation Project , reviewing ongoing construction activities and assessing the progress of key components, including the diaphragm wall.

During her visit to the project site, she interacted with engineers and officials, taking a detailed update on the status of works and technical challenges being faced. She later held a comprehensive review meeting at the project office with senior officials of the Water Resources Department and representatives of executing agencies.

Purandeswari specifically enquired about the pending critical works and preparedness for the upcoming monsoon season, stressing the need to complete all priority tasks within the stipulated timelines to avoid further delays.

Speaking after the review, she said the project has been accorded national importance and is being supported through continuous funding from the Central Government. She credited the assistance provided by the Union Government, led by Narendra Modi , for helping maintain momentum in construction activities.

She noted that better coordination between the Centre and the State would ensure faster execution, adding that the project, once completed, would significantly transform irrigation, drinking water supply, and overall development prospects of Andhra Pradesh.

Purandeswari also reviewed the remaining technical works and instructed officials to adopt a more proactive approach to resolve bottlenecks. She emphasised that no delay should be allowed under any circumstances , especially in view of flood-related risks.

Reaffirming confidence in the project’s completion, she said the Polavaram Project would emerge as a key driver of agricultural and economic growth for the state once fully operational.
