Pune Police Seek Cancellation of Vishal Agarwal’s Bail in Porsche Crash Case
Pune Police have moved a local court seeking cancellation of the bail granted to Vishal Agarwal , father of the juvenile accused in the 2024 Pune Porsche crash case, alleging that he violated conditions imposed by the Supreme Court.
The plea, filed before the Shivajinagar Sessions Court , is likely to be heard on June 23. The move follows the circulation of a viral video allegedly showing Agarwal celebrating his bail with family members, triggering public outrage.
According to the prosecution, such celebrations could influence witnesses and amount to a breach of bail conditions. Special Public Prosecutor Shishir Hire said the alleged conduct cannot be viewed lightly and may put pressure on witnesses connected to the case.
The Supreme Court had granted bail to Agarwal in March in connection with the alleged blood sample swapping conspiracy linked to the fatal crash. Following the viral video, Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar directed legal action, after which approval was obtained from the state law department to approach the court.
However, Agarwal has denied the allegations. Through his legal team, he claimed the video was recorded during his 25th wedding anniversary celebrations in Goa in 2023 , nearly a year before the Porsche crash case was registered.
Police have recorded statements from Vishal Agarwal and his wife, Shivani Agarwal, and are expected to present those statements along with digital evidence before the court.
The case stems from the May 19, 2024 Porsche crash in Pune’s Kalyani Nagar , where a luxury car allegedly driven by a 17-year-old juvenile killed two IT professionals riding a motorcycle. Investigators allege blood samples were manipulated with the help of medical personnel to conceal evidence of alcohol consumption by the juvenile driver.
