PUMA brings Bolt to India for two-day sports fest

The world’s fastest man is ready to test his speed in a different arena. Sprint icon Usain Bolt, winner of eight Olympic gold medals, will visit India to play in a special exhibition football match on October 1 in Mumbai.

The Jamaican legend, long celebrated as one of the greatest athletes in history, will trade the track for the football field in what promises to be a unique sporting spectacle. The event, part of sportswear giant PUMA’s two-day celebration starting September 30, will feature Bolt sharing the stage with professional footballers, Bollywood stars and other well-known personalities.

In an unusual twist, Bolt will represent both Bengaluru FC and Mumbai City FC, playing one half each for the two sides. Organisers say this concept will unite fans across rival camps and create a festive atmosphere. The exhibition game will be ticketed, making it a must-watch for sports enthusiasts.

“Sport has the power to inspire and unite communities. Football resonates deeply with India’s youth, and bringing Usain Bolt here reflects our commitment to celebrating that passion,” said PUMA India Managing Director Karthik Balagopalan.

Although Bolt’s track records remain unmatched, his love for football is no secret. As a youngster, he dreamt of showcasing his skills on the pitch, and after retiring from athletics, he even trained with clubs and scored goals in trial matches. On October 1, Indian fans will finally get to see the legendary sprint with a ball at his feet.
