PM Modi performed puja, marking completion of Ayodhya Ram Temple

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today marked a historic moment at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya by hoisting a saffron flag atop the temple’s spire, signaling the formal completion of the temple complex after its consecration in January 2024. Before the ceremony, Modi offered prayers at the Ram Lalla Garbha Grah, the innermost sanctum of the temple, where he performed a special pooja. He also visited nearby shrines dedicated to revered sages and figures associated with Lord Ram’s legacy, including Valmiki, Vashishtha, Agastya, Shabari, Nishadraj Guha, and Tulsidas, highlighting the spiritual and cultural significance of the occasion.

The flag hoisted by the Prime Minister is 10 feet high and 20 feet long, adorned with three symbolic motifs: a radiant Sun representing Lord Ram’s valor, the sacred ‘Om’ signifying divine consciousness, and the Kovidara tree symbolizing purity, wisdom, and heritage. The ceremony took place in the auspicious Abhijit Muhurat, as thousands of devotees chanted “Jai Shri Ram,” creating an atmosphere of reverence and celebration.

The event was attended by several prominent leaders, including RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Governor Anandiben Patel, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, and various state ministers and senior BJP leaders. Their presence underscored the national significance of the moment and its resonance across political, cultural, and spiritual spheres.

Leaders and spiritual figures described the event as embodying Lord Ram’s brilliance, courage, and India’s enduring civilizational heritage. In his remarks, the Prime Minister said the sacred flag represents the nation's timeless principles of dharma, unity, and identity, recalling the ideal of keeping one’s word even at great sacrifice. The ceremony also coincided with Guru Tegh Bahadur’s martyrdom day, adding depth to the themes of sacrifice, righteousness, and devotion.

With the flag hoisting, the temple now stands fully ready for worship, marking the culmination of a long-cherished spiritual, cultural, and historical aspiration for millions of devotees across India and the world.
