State Investigation Agency on Wednesday attached the immovable property of an alleged operative of the banned terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba in north Kashmir’s Kupwara as part of an ongoing investigation into a major narco-terror case.

According to officials, the action was taken against Zameer Ahmad Lone, a resident of Mandiyan Keran in Kupwara district, who is presently operating from Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK). Investigators alleged that Lone was actively involved in narco-smuggling, terror financing and cross-border terror activities aimed at disturbing peace and security in Jammu and Kashmir.

The attached property measures one Kanal and 14.37 Marlas and is located in Mandiyan Keran area of Kupwara. The attachment was carried out following orders issued by a competent court after the SIA submitted evidence gathered during the investigation.

The case was initially registered by the Anti Narcotics Task Force (ANTF). However, it was later transferred to the SIA Kashmir wing after investigators found suspected links between drug trafficking operations and terror financing networks operating across the border.

Officials said investigations revealed that proceeds from narcotics smuggling were allegedly being used to fund terror-related activities. The agency also stated that the accused had been declared a proclaimed offender earlier for evading arrest and continuing anti-national activities from across the border.

The SIA had previously filed a detailed charge sheet in the case after uncovering evidence related to cross-border smuggling, narco-terror funding and links with terrorist operatives.

Authorities said the latest action is part of a wider crackdown on terror-support networks, including financing channels and narcotics-based operations linked to militant groups operating from PoJK.
