
President Murmu To Visit Nathu La Pass During Three-Day Sikkim Tour
President Droupadi Murmu will visit the strategically significant Nathu La Pass along the India-China border during her three-day visit to Sikkim beginning Tuesday.
According to a statement issued by the President’s office, Murmu will begin her engagements with a visit to the Namgyal Institute of Tibetology in Gangtok on Tuesday.
On May 27, the President is scheduled to visit Nathu La Pass , one of the key mountain passes connecting India and China and an important strategic location in the eastern Himalayas. Later in the day, she will attend the convocation ceremony of Sikkim University in Gangtok.
On May 28, Murmu will present the President of India’s Police Colour to the Sikkim Police at a ceremonial event in Gangtok.
The visit is expected to underline the Centre’s continued focus on the northeastern region and recognise the contributions of institutions and security forces in Sikkim.
