President Murmu to Grace NIFT Combined Convocation 2026 in Delhi

President Droupadi Murmu, Visitor of the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), will grace the NIFT Combined Convocation 2026 as Chief Guest on August 31 in New Delhi. The ceremony will bring together graduating students from 18 NIFT campuses across the country.

Union Textiles Minister Giriraj Singh, along with members of NIFT’s Board of Governors, senior officials, faculty members, scholars and other dignitaries, will attend the event.

The convocation will celebrate the academic achievements, creativity and contributions of NIFT’s graduating students. Outstanding students from each programme and campus will be recognised with gold medals for securing the highest CGPA.

Following the combined ceremony, campus-wise degree distribution programmes will be organised, formally marking the graduates’ transition from academic life to their professional careers.

Established in 1986 under the Ministry of Textiles, NIFT became a statutory institute under the NIFT Act, 2006. The institute has since developed into a prominent centre for fashion education, combining traditional arts and crafts with design innovation, technology, creative thinking and industry engagement.

NIFT currently operates 20 campuses across India, providing students with opportunities to develop professional skills and creative capabilities relevant to the country’s expanding fashion and design sectors.

The 2026 convocation is expected to highlight the role of young professionals in shaping India’s evolving fashion and creative economy. Graduates entering the industry will carry skills in design, innovation and technology, with the institute emphasising their potential contribution to a more creative and globally connected India.

The ceremony will therefore serve not only as a celebration of academic accomplishment but also as a launchpad for the next generation of creative professionals.
