India can be considered truly developed only when every citizen has an equal opportunity to progress , President Droupadi Murmu said on Wednesday while inaugurating the “Golden Era of Maharashtra through Unity and Trust” campaign, organised by the Brahma Kumaris at Vishwa Shanti Sarovar in Jamtha, Nagpur.

Addressing the gathering, the President emphasized the need to “discard negativity and embrace positivity. True progress comes only when everyone, irrespective of their background, is given equal opportunities in education, health, and livelihood.” She highlighted that unity and mutual trust are foundational pillars of a strong nation, and inclusive development is essential for a genuinely developed India.

Paying tribute to historical figures, Murmu said, “Leaders like Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Mahatma Jyotiba Phule, Lokmanya Tilak, and Dr B.R. Ambedkar inspire us to uphold justice, social equity, and ethical leadership. Their values continue to guide our nation.” She also underlined Maharashtra’s role in shaping India’s social, economic, cultural, and spiritual progress.

The campaign aims to promote harmony, human values , and social cohesion across Maharashtra. The Brahma Kumaris outlined eight guiding principles for the initiative, which include building an addiction-free society, encouraging sustainable lifestyles, ensuring cleanliness, strengthening civic responsibility, fostering readiness for humanitarian service, promoting value-based education, advocating a disciplined life through yoga, and working towards a green and sustainable Maharashtra.

Murmu expressed confidence in the initiative’s impact, saying, “This programme will help people develop inner strength, leadership spirit, and a commitment to value-based development. Spirituality strengthens awareness of human values, ethical behaviour, and social responsibility, which in turn fosters mutual trust in society.”

The event was attended by Governor Acharya Devvrat , state revenue minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule , senior Brahma Kumaris leaders including Rajyogi B.K. Mrutyunjay and Rajyogini B.K. Chandrika Didi, and other dignitaries.
