President Droupadi Murmu Visits Hadimba Temple, Atal Tunnel During Himachal Pradesh Trip

President Droupadi Murmu, on a three-day visit to Himachal Pradesh, visited the historic Hadimba Temple in Manali and the Atal Tunnel at Rohtang on Wednesday, combining her official tour with visits to some of the region’s prominent cultural and scenic landmarks.

Murmu arrived at the Bahang helipad around noon on Tuesday, where she was received by Himachal Pradesh Governor Kavinder Gupta, Mandi MP Kangana Ranaut and Manali MLA Bhuvneshwar Gaur. She then travelled to the Circuit House in Manali, which will be her base until October 8.

During her stay, the President visited the centuries-old Hadimba Temple, a major religious and cultural landmark in Manali. She later travelled towards Sissu in Lahaul Valley and also visited the Atal Tunnel, which has significantly improved all-weather connectivity between Manali and the Lahaul-Spiti region by providing a route beneath the Rohtang Pass.

Murmu’s visit comes as Himachal Pradesh hosts the President amid heightened security arrangements in Manali and Lahaul. Officials have made extensive security preparations across areas included in her itinerary.

Meanwhile, Murmu’s daughter Itishree Murmu visited the Nicholas Roerich Art Gallery and Estate at Naggar, another important cultural attraction in the region.

During an interaction with museum curator Dr Larisa Surgina, Itishree praised the works of Russian artist Nicholas Roerich, widely known as the “Master of Mountains” for his celebrated paintings of the Himalayas and expressed a desire to return to the gallery with the President. She also interacted with children and posed for photographs.

The President is scheduled to remain in Himachal Pradesh until Thursday, with Manali forming a key part of her three-day visit.
