Preparations underway for Panchayat elections: Polling centers inspected, police act enforced

With the upcoming panchayat elections in Telangana, authorities across the state have stepped up preparations to ensure the process is smooth and peaceful. Officials are inspecting polling centers, while law enforcement is actively implementing the Police Act in several areas.

In the first phase of the elections, over 150 sarpanches are expected to be elected unopposed, as only a single nomination has been filed in these villages. The first phase of polling is scheduled for December 11.

In Jogulamba Gadwal district, additional collector Narsingh Rao visited polling centers in Konkal and Tanagala villages of Waddapalli Mandal. He gave instructions to ensure the election staff take necessary precautions and that all required facilities are in place at the centers.

In Rajanna Sircilla district, SP Mahesh Geete announced that the Police Act 1861 will be enforced across the district until December 30 to maintain peace and prevent disturbances during the elections.

Similarly, in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district, collector Hanumanth Rao inspected nomination centers and reviewed the facilities provided for candidates in Bibinagar Mandal. In Rajanna Sircilla, collector Garim Agarwal checked the nomination process at Boyinapalli Mandal to ensure proper procedures are followed.

In Suryapet district, police, led by SP Narasimha, confirmed that the Police Act will be in effect from December 2 to 31, with tight monitoring and deployment of personnel across the district to safeguard election security.

A total of 12,769 village panchayats across the state will go to polls, with approximately 16.7 million rural voters eligible to cast their ballots. The Telangana panchayat elections will be conducted in three phases, on December 11, 14, and 17. These elections are considered highly significant for the ruling Congress party, the opposition BRS, and the BJP.
