Prashant Kishor Slams Bihar Government After Minister Faces Allegation Of Molestation

Jan Suraaj Party founder Prashant Kishor on Wednesday stepped up his attack on Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary following allegations that a state minister allegedly molested an employee at a hotel in Delhi.

Speaking to reporters in Muzaffarpur, Kishor said such controversies could be expected when a government was headed by someone with what he described as a “tainted record”.

Kishor was responding to allegations made by Janata Janashakti Dal (JJD) president Tej Pratap Yadav against Bihar minister Sanjay Kumar Singh. Singh, who belongs to the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), had defeated Yadav from the Mahua Assembly constituency last year.

The controversy has also drawn the attention of Union Minister Chirag Paswan, who heads the LJP(RV). Paswan has called for an investigation into the allegation and said strong action should be taken if anyone is found guilty, even if the person belongs to his party.

Kishor has repeatedly targeted Choudhary over allegations concerning his past, including claims about criminal antecedents and questions regarding his date of birth and educational qualifications mentioned in election affidavits.

The Jan Suraaj chief also weighed in on the opposition RJD’s allegations of a ₹700-crore “dustbin scam”, involving alleged irregularities in the purchase of plastic garbage containers by the state government.

Kishor said that if former BJP health minister Mangal Pandey comes under scrutiny in the matter, the role of Tejashwi Yadav, who previously held the health portfolio, should also be investigated.

Meanwhile, Kishor announced that Jan Suraaj would contest all eight upcoming Bihar Legislative Council seats whose terms end in November. He said candidates would be announced within three to four days.

One of the outgoing MLCs is Afaq Ahmed, elected from the Saran Teachers’ constituency in 2022 with Jan Suraaj’s support.
