Pramod’s golden return, India bags 4 medals

After an 18-month absence from the international stage, Pramod Bhagat returned with a bang, leading India’s para badminton team to a medal-laden performance at the China Para Badminton International 2025. Alongside Sukant Kadam and Krishna Nagar, Bhagat played a key role in bringing glory to the country.

Pramod made a sensational comeback by clinching the men’s singles SL3 gold. After a heavy first-set loss against Indonesia’s Muh Al Imran, he staged a brilliant turnaround to win the next two sets 21-19, 21-16 in a thrilling contest. The victory was especially emotional, as Pramod had missed the Paris Paralympics due to three whereabouts failures.

In men’s doubles, he paired with Kadam but narrowly missed gold, losing 18-21, 22-20, 18-21 to fellow Indians Jagadesh Dilli and Naveen Sivakumar, and settled for silver.

World No. 1 Kadam also impressed in the men’s singles SL4 category, navigating a tough draw before finishing with silver after going down 9-21, 8-21 to France’s Lucas Mazur in the final.

Tokyo 2020 Paralympic champion Krishna Nagar contributed another silver in the men’s singles SH6 category. He fought hard against Thailand’s Natthapong Meechai in a three-set thriller, ending 22-20, 7-21, 17-21.

India’s para shuttlers displayed resilience, skill, and determination, making the nation proud with a memorable medal haul at the prestigious tournament.
