Actor Prakash Raj on Saturday announced a campaign across 10 districts of Karnataka from September 20 to 30 to conduct a “social audit” of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

Raj said he, along with civil society groups, would visit different districts and polling booths to compare names in the Election Commission’s records with those deleted from the electoral rolls. The campaign will involve teams visiting booths and collecting evidence from people whose names have allegedly been deleted from the electoral rolls, Raj told reporters.

He said the teams would meet affected voters and that each district would have a press conference where those claiming to be affected could speak about their cases.

Karnataka has over 4.46 crore voters in the draft electoral rolls published on August 24 following the SIR process. The final electoral roll will be published on October 27, 2026.

Raj questioned the timeframe of the SIR exercise, saying it was difficult to cover an electorate of more than five crore people within a short period.

He also cited the case of a woman named Chennamma in Mandya, saying she was born before Independence and had voted in 36 elections but now had to establish her eligibility.Raj alleged that the SIR exercise was a “scam” and a “conspiracy”, and said he would pursue the issue through legal means.

He said civil society groups from different states would also bring their evidence to a gathering in Delhi on October 1 or 2.

According to Raj, the evidence collected during the campaign would be consolidated and the groups would approach different courts by October 15.The campaign will cover different districts and polling booths during the 10-day period.

Raj said the teams would collect evidence from voters and compare electoral roll records during their visits to polling booths.

The SIR process resulted in the publication of the draft electoral roll on August 24, while the final roll is scheduled for publication on October 27.
