Intensifying efforts to improve urban sanitation and civic services , GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan carried out surprise inspections across several localities in Hyderabad on Saturday. The inspections are part of the State government’s 99-day initiative Praja Palana – Pragati Pranalika , aimed at strengthening governance and improving the delivery of public services .

During the field visit, the Commissioner reviewed sanitation management , garbage collection systems , and drainage maintenance in key neighbourhoods of the city. Officials were instructed to ensure that waste management operations function efficiently and that no garbage remains unattended on roads or in residential areas.

Accompanied by Khairatabad Zonal Commissioner Priyanka Ala , Karnan toured Jubilee Hills and Banjara Hills , inspecting sanitation work underway in these prominent residential and commercial areas. At NBT Nagar near Apollo Hospital , he examined several Garbage Vulnerable Points (GVPs) where waste frequently accumulates. Officials were directed to completely clear such spots and ensure measures are in place to prevent garbage from piling up again.

The Commissioner also inspected sanitation operations in the Jubilee Hills Circle under Khairatabad Zone , assessing whether door-to-door waste collection , street sweeping, and drainage clearance were being carried out effectively. Civic authorities were asked to strengthen monitoring and maintain consistent sanitation standards across neighbourhoods.

During the inspection, Karnan also visited a vacant land parcel in MLA Colony and suggested that it be developed into a public park . He emphasised the importance of creating green and recreational spaces that can serve as relaxation areas for residents.

Reiterating the objectives of the Praja Palana – Pragati Pranalika programme , the GHMC Commissioner urged officials to intensify sanitation drives and focus on eliminating garbage accumulation points across the city. He stressed that sustained monitoring and efficient civic management are essential to maintaining Hyderabad’s cleanliness and urban livability.
