Prabhas’ Fauzi Faces Release Date Shake-Up, December Slot In Doubt
Prabhas’ much-awaited period action drama Fauzi could be heading for a release-date change, with reports suggesting that the film may move from December 3, 2026, to January 26, 2027 . However, the makers have not officially confirmed the postponement yet.
Directed by Hanu Raghavapudi, Fauzi is set in 1940s British India and follows Prabhas in a soldier’s role against the backdrop of the pre-Independence era. The film also marks the feature debut of Imanvi, while the ensemble cast includes actors such as Mithun Chakraborty, Jaya Prada and Anupam Kher.
The latest buzz around the release date is reportedly linked to the film’s demanding production and post-production work. The project involves extensive action sequences and CGI, and the team is said to be taking additional time to complete the final output rather than rushing it for the December deadline. Earlier reports had indicated that multiple shooting units were working simultaneously to keep the production on schedule.
The makers had officially announced December 3, 2026 as the worldwide theatrical release date in July. Prabhas had also shared the release announcement along with a new poster.
If the reported change goes ahead, January 26, 2027, Republic Day, is being considered as the new date. The national holiday could provide the film with a strong theatrical window, while its historical setting may also make the date thematically appealing.
A shift could, however, require adjustments to the film’s distribution, promotional and OTT plans. Reports have also suggested that the December 3 slot may now be under consideration for other Telugu releases.
For now, Fauzi remains officially scheduled for December 3. The final decision on whether Prabhas’ film will move to January is awaited from the makers.
