
Ponnam Prabhakar Calls for Unity to Ensure Congress Victory in Municipal Elections
Telangana Minister Ponnam Prabhakar has urged party leaders and cadres to ensure the Congress flag flies high in the upcoming municipal elections , stressing unity , coordination , and disciplined campaigning across the Mahabubabad Parliamentary constituency. Serving as election coordinator for the segment, he toured the district extensively and conducted review meetings with key leaders and candidates from Dornakal , Maripeda , Illandu , and Kesamudram municipalities, focusing on booth-level preparedness and local political dynamics.
At a meeting in Maripeda, the Minister, along with MLA Ramachandra Naik and DCC president Uma Murali Naik , interacted directly with candidates and local leaders, calling for full coordination to secure 100 percent seats in the municipalities under the constituency. Emphasising party unity , he appealed to aspirants who did not receive tickets not to feel disheartened and instead work for the success of official nominees. He assured that committed workers would receive future recognition through nominated posts and organisational responsibilities, reinforcing morale among grassroots cadres.
During another review at the Mahabubabad district headquarters, attended by MLAs Murali Naik and Koram Kanakaiah , the Minister clarified that candidates were selected based on survey reports and local feedback. In wards lacking consensus, he personally mediated discussions to resolve disputes and prevent rebel candidatures . He also directed Congress cadres to coordinate with the Communist Party of India (CPI) in alliance seats to ensure vote consolidation in what are expected to be multi-cornered contests .
Ponnam Prabhakar stated that official B-forms had been distributed through district leadership to candidates in Mahabubabad, Illandu, and Kesamudram municipalities, ensuring clarity over party symbols and authorised nominations. Urging workers to take the government’s welfare schemes and development initiatives directly to the public, he called for intensive outreach to translate governance performance into electoral support. With strong competition anticipated, his tour underlines the party’s strategy of maintaining internal cohesion , managing alliances, and striving for a clean sweep in key urban local bodies.
