Polling begins for first phase of Panchayat elections in Telangana

The first phase of village panchayat elections in Telangana kicks off today, with polling scheduled from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., the State Election Commissioner Rani Kumudini announced. She confirmed that elections in 395 villages have already been completed in the first phase, and 495 villages in the second phase. Counting will begin immediately after polling concludes, and results are expected to be declared promptly.

As part of election preparations, police across the state have conducted extensive checks, seizing ₹8.2 crore in cash so far. Additional security forces have been deployed to maintain law and order, and strict action is being taken against any unlawful activities. The Election Commission has assured that voters can exercise their rights without fear.

Polling centers have been equipped with basic amenities such as drinking water, shade, and support staff. Special arrangements have been made for the elderly and differently-abled voters to ensure a smooth voting experience. With coordinated efforts from officials at all levels, Commissioner Rani Kumudini expressed confidence that the elections will proceed peacefully.
