Police–Judiciary Coordination Key to Justice Delivery: Vangalapudi Anita

Andhra Pradesh Home Minister Vangalapudi Anita stated that public prosecutors play an invaluable role in building public confidence in laws and the judicial system . She was speaking after inaugurating a state-level workshop on the Bonded Labour System (Abolition) Act, 1976 organised by the Andhra Pradesh Prosecution Department in Visakhapatnam on Saturday.

Addressing the gathering, the Minister emphasised that delivering timely justice to victims is the government’s primary objective . She noted that effective coordination between the police machinery and the judiciary is essential to ensure conviction of offenders , thereby strengthening democracy.

Highlighting the government’s commitment to protecting children, Anita said that under special initiatives like ‘Operation Trace’ , nearly 900 missing children have been rescued and reunited with their families so far. She also revealed that 180 individuals from the state, who were stranded abroad after being cheated in the name of employment, have been safely brought back.

The Minister asserted that there should be no leniency for those accused of sexual offences against children and urged prosecution officials to ensure that accused in POCSO cases do not easily secure bail and face stringent punishment. She added that as the nature of crime is evolving, the government is equipping police and prosecution departments with advanced technology and specialised training.

During the programme, Anita felicitated public prosecutors who played a key role in securing convictions in various cases. She expressed hope that the workshop would serve as a turning point in efforts to eradicate human trafficking .

Director of Prosecutions Ramakoteshwara Rao , along with around 200 senior officials and legal experts from across the state , participated in the event.
