Police filed Chargesheet against Allu Arjun, 22 others in Pushpa-2 premiere Stampede case

The city police have filed a chargesheet in a local court against 23 persons , including top Telugu actor Allu Arjun , in connection with the stampede that claimed the life of a woman during the premiere of the film Pushpa-2 last year.

According to officials, the theatre management has been named as the prime accused in the chargesheet submitted recently, while Allu Arjun has been listed as accused number 11. The case relates to a tragic incident that occurred on December 4, 2024 , at Sandhya Theatre, where a large crowd had gathered for the special screening of Pushpa-2.

The stampede broke out as fans thronged the theatre to catch a glimpse of the actor, leading to chaos at the venue. A 35-year-old woman died in the incident, while her eight-year-old son sustained injuries . The incident triggered widespread outrage and raised serious questions about crowd management and safety arrangements during high-profile film premieres.

Following the incident, the Chikkadpally police registered a case against Allu Arjun, his security personnel, and the theatre management under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), based on a complaint filed by the deceased woman’s family. Investigators cited alleged lapses in crowd control and safety protocols as contributing factors to the tragedy.

Allu Arjun was arrested on December 13, 2024, in connection with the case and was released from jail the following day after the Telangana High Court granted him interim bail. He was subsequently granted regular bail.

In the aftermath of the incident, Allu Arjun and the makers of Pushpa extended financial assistance to the injured child’s family. The Telangana government also announced compensation for the victim’s family.

The court is expected to take cognisance of the chargesheet in the coming days, as the legal proceedings in the case move forward.
