The Andhra Pradesh government has reinforced its commitment to families displaced by the Polavaram project by rolling out fresh relief measures as part of its ongoing support initiatives. On the occasion of Ugadi, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu released ₹226.61 crore (approximately ₹226 crore) as the third installment of financial assistance, distributing cheques to beneficiaries in Amaravati. He emphasized that Polavaram is the lifeline of the state and said supporting affected families remains the government’s foremost responsibility.

Highlighting the scale of assistance, the government noted that a total of ₹1,943 crore has been disbursed over the past 21 months through various phases of compensation and financial assistance. Earlier installments were released during Sankranti and Diwali, ensuring timely support to displaced families. Officials described the process as transparent and efficient, with funds directly credited to beneficiaries’ accounts.

Beyond monetary aid, the administration is strengthening its resettlement efforts by developing rehabilitation colonies with essential infrastructure such as housing, roads, drinking water, and electricity. These welfare measures are aimed at ensuring long-term stability and improved living conditions for those affected by the project.

Addressing earlier delays, officials pointed to past administrative setbacks and technical issues, including damage to the diaphragm wall , which slowed progress. However, they stated that revised plans and close monitoring have helped accelerate construction, with works now progressing at a steady pace.

The Chief Minister expressed confidence that the Polavaram project will be completed by the time of the next Godavari Pushkaram . He said key construction activities are moving forward rapidly and assured that the government will continue its support initiatives in a transparent manner, ensuring every displaced family receives due assistance and justice.
