POCSO Case Takes Serious Turn, Bhageerath Under Police Custody
A major development unfolded on Wednesday in the POCSO case involving Bhageerath , son of Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar, as police took him into custody for intensive questioning after securing a two-day remand from a local court.
The case was registered following a complaint by the mother of a 17-year-old girl, who accused Bhageerath of sexual assault . He was arrested on May 16 and later placed under judicial remand . His attempt to obtain interim relief from the Telangana High Court was unsuccessful, allowing the investigation to continue without interruption.
After recording the minor’s statement, investigators invoked stricter provisions under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the POCSO Act , significantly increasing the seriousness of the case.
The controversy deepened after Bhageerath filed a counter-complaint against the girl’s family. He alleged that the family later pressured him for marriage and attempted blackmail , demanding money while threatening to implicate him in false cases.
With separate FIRs now registered, authorities are examining evidence and statements from both sides as the probe intensifies.
