
POCSO Case Against Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar’s Son, Counter Allegation of Extortion Filed
A legal controversy has emerged in Hyderabad after a POCSO Act case was registered against the son of Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar, following allegations of sexual harassment of a minor girl . The case has now taken a turn with a counter complaint of extortion and criminal intimidation filed by the accused.
According to police, the complaint was lodged by the mother of a 17 year old girl , who alleged that the minister’s son, Bhageerath , had been in a relationship with her daughter for several months and had subjected her to harassment. The relationship is said to have begun nearly seven to eight months ago .
Police have registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act , while noting that the minor has not yet been examined as part of the investigation.
In a parallel development, Bhageerath has filed a counter complaint in Karimnagar, presenting a different version of events. He alleged that he was introduced to the girl through social gatherings and family functions , and that he later accompanied her family on visits to religious places .
He further claimed that after he refused a marriage proposal, the girl and her parents allegedly began pressuring and threatening him , demanding money and warning him of false cases if he did not comply.
In his complaint, Bhageerath stated that he initially paid ₹50,000 to the girl’s father out of fear. However, he alleged that the demands escalated to ₹5 crore . He also claimed that he was threatened with serious consequences, including emotional pressure involving threats of self harm by the girl’s mother .
Police have registered an FIR on both complaints , and investigations are currently underway from both sides.
Authorities are now examining statements and evidence as the case develops into a serious and complex legal dispute involving conflicting allegations .
