Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Kurnool and Nandyal districts in Andhra Pradesh on Thursday, marking a significant step in the state’s development initiatives. During the visit, projects worth ₹13,430 crore will be inaugurated or have foundation stones laid, with additional projects to be launched virtually.

A key highlight of the visit is the “Super GST – Super Savings” public event, aimed at showcasing the benefits of the Central Government’s GST reforms to citizens. Preparations are underway to accommodate over three lakh attendees.

Agriculture Minister Kinjaraapu Atchannaidu conducted a review meeting on Wednesday to ensure smooth coordination among various departments, ministers, and public representatives. He emphasized that all officials and coalition leaders should work together to provide an excellent experience for the public. He called for generating enthusiasm in every village and mandal to welcome the Prime Minister. Atchannaidu also instructed officials to manage traffic and event logistics to avoid inconvenience to attendees.

Preparatory meeting details: The review meeting included ministers Vangalapudi Anita, Anagani Satya Prasad, Gummadi Sandhyarani, coordination committee members, public representatives, and department officials. Minister Atchannaidu described the public event as a historic platform to inform citizens about GST reforms, noting that it would directly connect the Prime Minister with the public.

Prime Minister’s Itinerary: The visit will commence at the Sri Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple in Nandyal district, where the Prime Minister will perform a ceremonial darshan. He will then visit the Sri Shivaji Spurthi Centre before proceeding to Kurnool for the “Super GST – Super Savings” event at Ragamayuri Green Hills.

The event will include the inauguration of key projects across industries, power transmission, roads, railways, defence manufacturing, and petroleum and natural gas sectors. Notable projects include:

• 765 kV double-circuit Kurnool-III Pooling Station–Chilakaluripet transmission line, enhancing 6,000 MVA conversion capacity.

• Industrial area foundations at Orvakallu (Kurnool) and Kopparthy (Kadapa) with a total investment of ₹4,920 crore, attracting ₹21,000 crore and generating employment for 1 lakh people.

• Vishakhapatnam Sabbavaram–Silenagar Greenfield Highway, costing ₹960 crore.

The “Super GST – Super Savings” program will also explain second-generation GST reforms approved by the GST Council, including tax reductions on items such as hair oil, cornflakes, and health and life insurance products. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu recently invited the Prime Minister to participate in the program.

State preparations: The state has completed trial runs and coordinated 98,985 awareness programs at village, mandal, and state levels. Minister for Education, Nara Lokesh, emphasized the need for all departments to work in unison to ensure the event’s success. Minister Atchannaidu noted that the visit is expected to be a milestone for the development of the Rayalaseema region. Prime Minister Modi posted on X (Twitter), “We will advance the development journey with the people of Andhra Pradesh. GST reforms will contribute to every household’s welfare.”

All officials have been instructed to ensure seamless execution of the event, highlighting the state’s preparedness and the anticipated large public turnout.
