PM Modi Virtually Inaugurates Redeveloped Rayanaidu Railway Station in NTR District

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday virtually inaugurated the newly redeveloped Rayanaidu Railway Station in Andhra Pradesh’s NTR district , marking a significant step in the modernisation of railway infrastructure under the Centre’s flagship Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS) .

The station has been upgraded with airport-like facilities and modern passenger amenities at an estimated cost of ₹36 crore . The redevelopment is part of the Indian Railways’ vision to transform stations across the country into world-class facilities with improved comfort, accessibility and efficiency for passengers.

Addressing the gathering at Rayanaidu station, Vijayawada MP Kesineni Sivanath (Chinni) said Prime Minister Modi inaugurated 75 railway stations across India on Friday and highlighted the launch of a hydrogen-powered train as an example of the country’s technological progress.

He said 72 railway stations in Andhra Pradesh have been selected for redevelopment under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, out of the 1,000 stations being modernised nationwide. The MP added that three stations in his parliamentary constituency are being upgraded under the scheme.

Kesineni Sivanath also said that approvals had been obtained, with the support of Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw , for railway bridges and underpasses in Rayanaidu, Eelaprolu and Gollapudi areas. He further stated that the Vijayawada Railway Station is being redeveloped at a cost of ₹835 crore with international-standard facilities.

The inauguration programme was attended by State Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav , NTR district Collector G. Lakshmi Sha , railway officials and other dignitaries.

A senior railway official said Rayanaidu has become the first among 21 selected stations in Andhra Pradesh under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme to complete redevelopment works and be opened for public use .

The upgraded station features a spacious circulating area, improved parking facilities, premium interiors, modern lounges, upgraded ticket counters, high-speed lifts, escalators and divyang-friendly facilities . Passenger movement areas have also been redesigned to ensure smoother travel.

Railway authorities said the redevelopment preserves the region’s local identity while providing passengers with a premium travel experience on par with modern transport hubs .
