PM Modi to Inaugurate Bhogapuram International Airport on August 1

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the long-awaited Bhogapuram International Airport in Andhra Pradesh on August 1 , marking a major milestone in the state’s infrastructure development and a significant boost for the growth of North Andhra.

The Andhra Pradesh government announced that extensive arrangements are being made to ensure the inauguration is conducted on a grand scale. The airport is being viewed as a transformative project that could reshape the economic landscape of the region by improving connectivity and attracting fresh investments.

According to the government, the project was originally initiated during the TDP government in 2014 . The present NDA coalition government accelerated the construction process and completed the airport within the last two years, paving the way for its commissioning.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu described the airport as a game-changing infrastructure asset that would unlock new opportunities for employment, business expansion and regional development. He said the facility would serve as a catalyst for economic growth by encouraging investment across sectors and strengthening North Andhra’s integration with national and global markets.

The Chief Minister directed officials to ensure that the inauguration reflects the cultural identity of the region. He called for arrangements that showcase the rich tribal heritage, traditional art forms and handicrafts of North Andhra, making the event a celebration of the region’s history and culture as well as its development aspirations.

Naidu said the airport’s impact would extend far beyond air connectivity. He noted that improved access would support tourism, industrial expansion and commercial activity, creating long-term benefits for local communities. Drawing a comparison with Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport , which played a major role in the city’s rapid growth, he expressed confidence that Bhogapuram Airport would become a key driver of development in the Visakhapatnam economic region .

The government also highlighted ongoing investments in irrigation projects, national highways, ports, airports and tourism infrastructure, stating that North Andhra is entering a new phase of accelerated growth. Officials have been instructed to ensure that the airport’s design and public spaces prominently reflect Andhra Pradesh’s cultural heritage and artistic traditions.

With Prime Minister Modi set to dedicate the airport to the nation, the project is expected to become one of the most significant infrastructure landmarks in Andhra Pradesh in recent years.
