
PM Modi Speaks to Kuwait Emir, Calls for De-escalation and Diplomacy in West Asia
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday held a telephone conversation with the Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al Sabah , during which the two leaders discussed the evolving security situation in West Asia amid rising regional tensions.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office, both sides exchanged views on recent developments in the region. PM Modi conveyed India’s deep concern over the escalation of tensions and reiterated New Delhi’s firm position condemning any attacks on Kuwait’s sovereignty and territorial integrity .
The Prime Minister stressed the importance of restraint and underlined the need for de-escalation, dialogue and diplomacy as the most effective means to restore peace and stability in the region at the earliest.
He also expressed appreciation to the Emir for his personal attention to the safety and welfare of the large Indian community residing in Kuwait, noting the close people-to-people ties between the two countries.
The conversation comes at a time of heightened sensitivities in West Asia, with India continuing to call for the peaceful resolution of conflicts through diplomatic engagement and sustained dialogue among all stakeholders.
