PM Modi Sets New Benchmark in Indian Politics, Receives Telangana Governor’s Wishes
Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla on Tuesday extended his congratulations to Prime Minister Narendra Modi after he achieved a historic milestone by becoming the longest-serving elected Prime Minister in India's history .
In a statement issued by Lok Bhavan , the Governor described the achievement as a reflection of the deep trust and confidence that the people of India have consistently placed in Modi's leadership. He said the landmark moment underscores the Prime Minister's enduring connection with voters and his ability to secure successive electoral mandates over more than a decade.
Shukla praised the Prime Minister for steering the country through a period marked by significant transformation in areas such as economic growth, digital governance, infrastructure development, and global diplomacy . He noted that India has strengthened its position on the world stage while continuing to prioritize national interests and long-term development goals.
The Governor also highlighted the Centre's ambitious "Viksit Bharat 2047" vision, describing it as a roadmap for transforming India into a fully developed nation by the centenary year of Independence. According to him, the reforms and initiatives introduced over the past decade are laying the foundation for sustained growth and prosperity in the years ahead.
Expressing his wishes on behalf of the people of Telangana, Shukla said he was confident that the country would continue to scale new heights under Modi's leadership and further enhance its standing in the global community.
The milestone marks another chapter in Modi's remarkable political journey. He first assumed office as Prime Minister on May 26, 2014 , following a decisive victory for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the general elections. He returned to power with a stronger mandate in 2019 and secured a third consecutive term in 2024 , a feat achieved by only a handful of leaders in India's democratic history.
With this achievement, Modi has surpassed the tenure record associated with India's first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru , becoming the country's longest-serving elected Prime Minister. As of June 10, he has completed more than 4,398 days in office , setting a new benchmark in independent India's political history.
The achievement is being viewed by supporters as a testament to political continuity and electoral success, while also highlighting the significant role Modi has played in shaping India's governance and development trajectory over the past decade.
