PM Modi Inaugurates Samrat Samprati Museum in Gandhinagar, Celebrating Jain Heritage

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the Samrat Samprati Sangrahalay – Jain Heritage Museum at Koba Tirth in Gandhinagar on the occasion of Bhagwan Mahavir Jayanti . Describing Koba Tirth as a place of spiritual tranquillity , he noted that it reflects the tapasya of countless Jain Munis and saints, where devotion, learning, and service flourish.

Highlighting the enduring traditions of the Tirth, Shri Modi said that study, sadhana, and self-discipline have been nurtured here for generations. He emphasised that the preservation of values, nurturing of sanskaras , and the flow of knowledge form a triveni the confluence at the foundation of Indian civilisation. “Keeping this triveni flowing uninterrupted is the shared responsibility of all of us,” he added.

The museum, envisioned by Jain saints, aims to preserve ancient wisdom in modern forms for future generations. Shri Modi called it a sacred centre of Jain philosophy, Indian culture, and heritage , congratulating the saints, Munis, and devotees who contributed to this endeavour. He noted that presenting ancient knowledge innovatively enriches heritage and inspires society.

Referring to Samrat Samprati , the Prime Minister observed that he expanded ahimsa from the throne and propagated satya (truth), asteya (non-stealing), and aparigraha (non-possessiveness) with selflessness, bridging India’s philosophy and practice. The museum’s seven galleries showcase the Navpad, Tirthankaras, Samyak Darshan, Samyak Gyan, Samyak Charitra, Samyak Tap , and the teachings of Jain and other Indian traditions, highlighting India’s unity in diversity .

Shri Modi also lauded efforts in manuscript preservation, noting that over three lakh manuscripts , some centuries old, have been compiled at Koba through the dedication of Acharya Bhagwant Shri Padmasagar Surishwarji Maharaj Saheb. He highlighted the Gyan Bharatam Mission , which uses technology for digitisation, scientific preservation, and nationwide collection of manuscripts.

The Prime Minister expressed confidence that the Samrat Samprati Museum will serve as a vital centre of knowledge, sadhana, and culture , inspiring future generations and carrying the timeless values of Jain Dharma to every corner of the world.
