PM Modi Flags Off 3 Amrit Bharat Trains in South India

The southern rail network has received a fresh boost as Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off three new Amrit Bharat Express trains. These trains are not just new services; they represent a stronger link between the coastal and interior regions of the south, making travel easier and more comfortable for common passengers. The new trains will operate weekly and will connect key cities across Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh .

For the first time in Kerala, the Amrit Bharat Express has been introduced, and the state’s capital, Thiruvananthapuram , will now be the starting point for two of these services. The first train begins from Thiruvananthapuram Central and travels to Tambaram in Tamil Nadu, while the second starts from Thiruvananthapuram North and reaches Charlapalli in Telangana. These routes will not only shorten travel time but also strengthen the rail bond between Kerala and the neighboring states.

The third train begins its journey from Nagercoil in Tamil Nadu and travels all the way to Mangaluru in Karnataka, passing through Kerala’s coastal towns. This train will connect the southern tip of Tamil Nadu with the coastal belt of Karnataka, giving travelers a direct and convenient option to move along the west coast.

Along with these three Amrit Bharat trains, a new Guruvayur–Thrissur passenger train was also launched. This train will provide direct connectivity between the famous pilgrimage centre of Guruvayur and the important city of Thrissur , making daily commuting easier for devotees, students and local residents.

With modern coaches, improved interiors, and better passenger facilities, these trains are designed to provide safe, affordable and comfortable travel for the common passenger. As these trains begin their journey, they carry a simple promise: that the south will become more connected, more accessible, and more united through rail.
