
PM Modi condoles deaths in Bhiwadi chemical factory fire
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday expressed deep grief over the death of workers in a fire accident at a chemical factory in Bhiwadi , Rajasthan , and prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured.
In a message posted by the Prime Minister’s Office on X , the Prime Minister described the incident as “tragic and deeply saddening.” “My condolences to those who have lost their loved ones. I pray for the speedy recovery of those injured,” he said.
At least seven workers were burnt alive after a fire broke out at a chemical factory in the Khushkhera–Karoli industrial area of Bhiwadi on Monday. Two workers were reported to be trapped inside the unit at the time of filing this report.
Additional District Magistrate Sumita Mishra said the police came to know about the incident during a routine patrol, following which rescue operations were launched immediately. Fire tenders and emergency teams rushed to the spot to douse the blaze and carry out rescue efforts.
According to district authorities, a probe is underway to ascertain the exact cause of the fire. Preliminary assessments suggest that the blaze may have been triggered by a chemical reaction or a short circuit , though officials stressed that these are only initial findings and the precise cause will be determined after a detailed investigation and safety inspection.
Officials also said the fire caused substantial damage to the factory building, machinery and stored chemicals , resulting in significant financial losses . While an official estimate is yet to be finalised, the losses are expected to run into several crores of rupees , they added.
