PM Modi Celebrates Raksha Bandhan With Children at Residence, Shares ‘High Fives, Smiles’

Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrated Raksha Bandhan at his official residence, 7, Lok Kalyan Marg, on Friday, sharing warm moments with children as part of the festival celebrations.

Visuals from the occasion showed the Prime Minister interacting cheerfully with children, exchanging high fives and smiles. Sharing a glimpse of the celebrations on X, Modi wrote, “High fives, smiles and more during today’s Raksha Bandhan celebrations at 7, LKM.”

In another post featuring memorable moments from the gathering, the Prime Minister extended his wishes for the festival, saying, “May this festival deepen the bonds of affection and harmony. May it bring happiness and prosperity to everyone.”

President Droupadi Murmu also marked Raksha Bandhan with children and students from various schools and organisations at the Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Centre. According to the President’s office, the celebrations brought together children from different institutions to observe the festival of affection and mutual care.

President Murmu said the significance of Raksha Bandhan extends beyond the traditional bond between siblings. She noted that the sacred rakhi can also be tied to family members, friends and even trees, symbolising love, care and protection. Emphasising the importance of environmental conservation, she encouraged children to nurture and protect plants and trees.

Union Minister Bhupendra Yadav also shared a video showing Modi’s cheerful interaction with children, describing the celebrations as filled with “Raksha Bandhan smiles and high fives at 7, LKM.”

Elsewhere in New Delhi, BJP National President Nitin Nabin celebrated the festival with BJP Mahila Morcha workers, who tied rakhis and exchanged greetings in the spirit of affection, respect and togetherness.

Meanwhile, Jharkhand Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Cooperation Minister Shilpi Neha Tirkey tied a rakhi to Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, with the two leaders exchanging greetings and highlighting the festival’s message of affection, trust, respect and social harmony.

Tirkey said Raksha Bandhan was “not merely a festival”, but an occasion that reinforces unity and mutual trust in society.
