PM Modi calls for national unity ahead of Vande Mataram 150

India has always been known for its colourful culture, rich traditions, and long history. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has invited citizens to join the Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) celebrations on October 31 at the Statue of Unity in Gujarat. The day marks the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the leader who played a key role in uniting more than 500 princely states after India’s independence. Popularly known as the “Iron Man of India,” Patel helped build the foundation of a strong and united nation.

The Statue of Unity, which stands in Kevadia, Gujarat, is the tallest statue in the world and has become a symbol of India’s oneness. Every year, thousands of citizens visit the site to pay tribute to Sardar Patel and reaffirm their commitment to national integration.

Ekta Diwas is not just a celebration but a reminder of how India’s strength comes from its inclusiveness. It encourages people to remember Patel’s vision of a nation that stays united despite cultural and regional differences.

This year also marks another important occasion. On November 7, 2025, India will celebrate 150 years of the song “Vande Mataram.” Written by Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay, this patriotic song played a major role during the freedom movement, inspiring generations to fight for the country’s independence.

Prime Minister Modi has urged people to share their thoughts on social media using the hashtag #VandeMataram150. The campaign aims to bring people together online and celebrate the song’s message of love and respect for the motherland.

Various events including literary discussions, musical performances, and art exhibitions are being planned to mark the occasion. Schools and cultural institutions across India will participate to highlight how “Vande Mataram” continues to unite people even today.

Both Ekta Diwas and Vande Mataram 150 carry the same spirit reminding us that India’s true strength lies in unity and diversity. These celebrations are not only about remembering the past but also about passing on values of unity, respect, and patriotism to the younger generation.
