PM Calls for Peace, Says Military Conflict Cannot Solve Global Problems

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday called for the peaceful resolution of ongoing conflicts in West Asia and Ukraine, saying the world is currently passing through a “very serious and tense situation.”

He made the remarks during bilateral talks with Austrian Federal Chancellor Christian Stocker in New Delhi, who is on his first official visit to India aimed at strengthening cooperation across multiple sectors including trade, investment, and technology.

PM Modi said that the impact of global tensions is being felt across all nations and stressed that both India and Austria agree that military conflict cannot resolve international disputes. He reiterated India’s support for peace , stability , and a lasting settlement in both Ukraine and West Asia through dialogue and diplomacy .

The Prime Minister highlighted that the visit of the Austrian Chancellor is expected to bring fresh momentum to bilateral relations , especially in trade , investment , and innovation . He also noted that India’s engagement with Europe has deepened following the India–EU Free Trade Agreement, marking what he described as a “new golden chapter ” in ties.

PM Modi emphasized that India remains committed to promoting global cooperation and multilateralism at a time of increasing geopolitical uncertainty. He said India will continue working with international partners to support stability and economic resilience across regions.

Chancellor Stocker, during his visit, held wide-ranging discussions with Indian leadership focused on expanding collaboration in sustainable development, clean energy, and digital transformation. Both sides agreed on strengthening partnership , innovation , and strategic cooperation.

The two leaders also reaffirmed support for a rules-based international order and underlined that only sustained engagement , understanding , and peaceful negotiations can resolve ongoing global conflicts.

The visit is expected to further deepen India Austria ties and open new avenues for growth and development in the coming years.
