Piyush Goyal meets Global CEOs to boost India’s tech and healthcare sectors

Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal has taken significant steps to strengthen India’s industrial and healthcare landscape by engaging with leading global industry players. The discussions focused on exploring partnerships in advanced manufacturing, semiconductors, clean technology, and MedTech , reinforcing the country’s vision of becoming a self-reliant and developed nation by 2047 .

On Saturday, Goyal held a high-level meeting with Sanjiv Lamba , CEO of Linde plc , where both sides discussed opportunities for collaboration in advanced manufacturing, decarbonisation, and carbon capture technologies . During the meeting, Goyal underscored the importance of creating a resilient industrial ecosystem capable of meeting future global challenges and supporting India’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative. The discussions aimed at fostering process-driven engagement to ensure long-term industrial growth and sustainability.

Earlier, on Friday, Goyal met David Rosa , CEO of Intuitive Surgical , along with the company’s senior leadership team. The conversation centered on India’s robust MedTech ecosystem , exploring opportunities in high-value manufacturing , robotic-assisted surgery , and the planned expansion of Intuitive Surgical’s Global Capacity Centre (GCC) in India. The Minister highlighted that such collaborations are critical not only for advancing technology adoption in healthcare but also for enhancing India’s global competitiveness in the sector.

According to the Minister’s office, these meetings are part of a broader effort to attract international expertise and investment, ensuring that India’s industrial and healthcare sectors remain future-ready and globally competitive . By leveraging global partnerships, India aims to accelerate progress toward its dual vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India) and Viksit Bharat (developed India) by 2047 , paving the way for sustainable growth and innovation across strategic sectors.
