The renowned spiritual hub of Pithapuram is set to welcome travelers in style, as its railway station is slated for a comprehensive modernization under the central government’s prestigious ‘Amrit Bharat Station’ initiative. The Railway Ministry has given the green signal for a complete upgrade, aimed at providing world-class facilities for devotees and passengers alike.

Following persistent efforts by Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan , who personally coordinated with the central authorities, a substantial fund of ₹37.25 crore has been approved. The funds will be utilized not only to enhance infrastructure but also to introduce corporate-level amenities for travelers and pilgrims.

From Problem Identification to Solution

During a previous visit to Pithapuram, Pawan Kalyan was deeply concerned about the unhygienic conditions around the local railway station. Noting the drainage issues and the discomfort caused by foul odors, he instructed officials to take immediate cleaning measures. However, instead of implementing only temporary repairs, he envisioned a permanent transformation of the station.

In January, during a trip to Delhi, he met Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to discuss the station’s spiritual significance and requested its inclusion in the ‘Amrit Bharat’ scheme for a holistic upgrade.

New Facilities to Reflect Spirituality

Pithapuram attracts pilgrims from across the country. Keeping this in mind, the station’s entrance and main building will be redesigned to reflect the city’s spiritual charm. Key improvements will include expanded platforms, modern shelters, upgraded electrical systems, and advanced drainage facilities. Special amenities will be provided for differently-abled passengers, including dedicated rest lounges and well-maintained toilets.

Expressing gratitude for the prompt approval of funds, Pawan Kalyan extended thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw , highlighting their role in ensuring swift action for the station’s development.
