The Andhra Pradesh court on Thursday placed YSRCP leaders P. Ramakrishna Reddy and his brother P. Venkata Ramireddy in judicial custody in connection with the murder of two TDP leaders.

According to B.L.N. Jagadish, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in Gurazala, the case relates to the killings of TDP leaders J. Venkateswara Rao and J. Kotiswara Rao on May 24 in Gundlapadu village, Palnadu district.

“The Pinnelli brothers, listed as the sixth and seventh accused in the double murder case, appeared in court today following directions from the Supreme Court to surrender within two weeks. The court has now remanded them in custody for 14 days,” DSP Jagadish said.

Police stated that the victims were returning from a wedding in Nakkagudem, Telangana, when they were ambushed. Investigators described the attack as a ‘targeted assault,’ during which the attackers used an SUV to hit the motorcycle the TDP leaders were riding, and then assaulted them with stones, leading to their deaths.

Jagadish added that the former Macharla MLA, Ramakrishna Reddy, and his brother have been transferred to Nellore district jail. Their previously granted Supreme Court bail was cancelled before their court appearance.
