A 35-year-old employee , identified as Pawan Kumar , died in a powerful explosion at Vijayasai Pharma , a chemical manufacturing unit in the Ellagiri area of Choutuppal mandal in Yadadri–Bhuvanagiri district , on Saturday. The blast occurred while chemicals were being mixed during a production process, triggering a fire that damaged parts of the facility.

Preliminary reports suggest the explosion may have been caused by a short circuit , though officials said a detailed technical inquiry will determine the exact cause. Fire department personnel rushed from Choutuppal and reached the site around 2 pm, bringing the flames under control quickly and preventing further casualties. Authorities confirmed that Kumar died on the spot and no other injuries were reported.

Fire officials stated that the blast occurred suddenly during the chemical mixing stage , which often involves handling volatile substances that require strict temperature control, proper grounding, and ventilation safeguards. The intensity of the explosion caused structural damage inside the unit.

The incident follows a series of recent industrial fire accidents in the district. Earlier this month, a major blaze erupted after two reactors exploded at a company in Choutuppal mandal, though no casualties were reported. In another incident at Brindavan Laboratories Pvt. Ltd. in Dotigudem, a radiator explosion triggered a large fire that required multiple fire tenders to contain.

The repeated accidents have raised concerns over industrial safety practices in the region’s pharmaceutical and chemical manufacturing clusters. Police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the Vijayasai Pharma explosion, focusing on safety compliance and operational protocols. Kumar’s death has left his family in mourning, while authorities assess whether lapses in safety measures contributed to the tragedy.
