Pending fee reimbursements for private colleges resolved in Telangana

Discussions between private college managements and the Telangana government over pending fee reimbursements have concluded successfully, bringing relief to both institutions and students. The meeting, held at the Raj Bhavan, was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka and Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy. Following the talks, college managements announced that the ongoing shutdown of private higher education institutions would be lifted.

Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka stated that of the total outstanding dues of Rs 1,500 crore owed to private colleges, Rs 600 crore has already been released. An additional Rs 600 crore will be disbursed immediately, while the remaining Rs 300 crore will be cleared soon. These payments primarily concern fee reimbursement schemes.

To ensure smoother implementation and address future issues, the government has set up a special committee to review the fee reimbursement policy. The committee, comprising government officials and college representatives, will examine the policy and suggest reforms if necessary to provide effective solutions.

The Deputy Chief Minister emphasized that the government remains committed to safeguarding students’ interests and maintaining stability in the education sector. He also noted that this resolution applies not only to individual colleges but to all private higher education institutions operating under the government’s fee reimbursement program.
