The Andhra Pradesh government has initiated measures to provide a permanent solution to the drinking water shortage in Uravakonda Assembly constituency. State Finance, Planning, Commercial Taxes and Legislative Affairs Minister Payyavula Keshav on Monday launched works worth ₹480 crore under the Jal Jeevan Mission–Amarajeevi Jaladhara scheme.

The project aims to draw water from the PABR Dam and ensure a reliable supply of drinking water to every village in the constituency. A key component of the initiative is the provision of tap connections to every household, allowing rural families to access safe drinking water at their homes. The Minister said the project was intended to address the longstanding water shortage in rural areas through a comprehensive and sustainable supply network.

Keshav said the government was focusing on strengthening drinking water infrastructure by utilising the available water resources from the PABR Dam. The project will facilitate the transmission of water to villages while extending individual household tap connections. He said the objective was not merely to improve village-level supply but also to ensure that every household has direct access to safe drinking water.

The Minister noted that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan had laid the foundation stone for the major works. The project is expected to expand drinking water infrastructure across the constituency and provide relief to residents of rural habitations facing water shortages.

The drinking water initiative in Uravakonda, along with the development works taken up in Singanamala, forms part of the government’s efforts to strengthen infrastructure and public services in rural areas.
