Pawan Kalyan Supports Visually-Impaired World Cup Champions from Personal Funds

Moved by the hardships faced by members of the Telugu women’s team that brought glory to India by winning the Blind Cricket World Cup , Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and Jana Sena Party president Pawan Kalyan stepped in with immediate assistance , reaching out to the players’ families within 24 hours .

After interacting with the visually-impaired cricketers and learning about their difficult living conditions, Pawan Kalyan acted without delay, arranging essential household goods and daily necessities for their families. The players’ struggles, particularly the revelation that match fees were often the sole means to support their families despite winning a World Cup, deeply affected him.

Captain Deepika

, a native of Tambalapalle Thanda in Sri Sathya Sai district , and player Pangi Karuna Kumari from Vantlamamidi village in Alluri Sitarama Raju district , were identified for immediate support. On the Deputy Chief Minister’s directions, Jana Sena leaders and officials rushed to the respective villages to deliver assistance.

The families were provided with televisions, table fans, mixer grinders, pressure cookers, utensils, new clothes, blankets, groceries and other essential household items. The timely help brought visible relief and created a festive atmosphere in the cricketers’ homes.

The distribution of materials was carried out under the supervision of Hindupur Urban Development Authority Chairman T.C. Varun , along with Jana Sena leaders . Separate administrative approvals were facilitated by State Folk Arts and Creative Academy Chairman Vampoora Gangulaiah and Visakhapatnam District Library Organisation Chairman, ensuring swift execution of the support measures.

In addition to immediate relief, Pawan Kalyan directed officials to construct new houses for both cricketers under the sports quota. He also instructed that furniture such as beds and dining tables be provided once the houses are completed.

Meanwhile, acting on Captain Deepika’s request regarding poor road connectivity , the Deputy Chief Minister had already sanctioned the construction of two roads at a cost of ₹6.2 crore , with administrative approvals expedited. Local residents expressed happiness over the rapid response and development initiatives.

The Deputy Chief Minister’s intervention has been widely appreciated as a gesture of recognition and support for athletes who have brought international honour to the country despite facing severe personal hardships.
